FINPICO / LEGAL & TRUST
Editorial Policy
Our approach to clear explanations and transparent calculator guides.
Our editorial purpose
FinPico aims to make everyday money concepts easier to understand. We publish explanations and calculator guides that help readers explore budgeting, savings and longer-term scenarios. The purpose is to support understanding, not to make a financial decision on a reader's behalf.
A useful page should identify the question it answers, explain the main inputs and show what the result means. Plain language matters because a technically correct explanation can still be unhelpful if a beginner cannot follow it. We aim to keep the relationship between the question, calculation and limitations visible throughout the page.
Audience and language
Content is written in English with US-dollar examples and a focus on common planning questions. That audience choice does not make an example suitable for every visitor or establish a US office, company registration or professional license. Rules and financial circumstances differ, so readers should check information relevant to their location and situation.
We aim to define unfamiliar terms when they affect understanding. Short sections, descriptive headings and practical examples should help readers find the part they need. Length should follow the topic rather than an arbitrary claim that a particular number of words guarantees quality, search traffic or advertising approval.
Editorial identity and accountability
FinPico Editorial is the site's publishing identity. It should not be presented as a named licensed adviser or an independent review body without support. An author label communicates responsibility for the page; it is not evidence that a reader's personal circumstances have been assessed.
We do not invent staff biographies, qualifications, testimonials or professional endorsements to increase trust. A photograph used to illustrate learning or household planning should not be described as a FinPico employee simply because it appears near the content. Questions about a page can be sent through the published contact channel.
Sources and factual claims
Where a topic depends on a current rule, provider term or official definition, primary sources should be preferred. Relevant sources can include the responsible public authority, original documentation or the actual product provider. A competitor page can suggest a question readers ask, but it is not a substitute for verifying a factual claim.
References should support the claim they accompany. A general link to a large institution does not prove every sentence on a page. Time-sensitive information should be checked before it is presented as current. If a fact cannot be verified, the wording should reflect that uncertainty rather than turn an assumption into a confident statement.
Calculator methodology
Calculator guides should explain rate conventions, contribution timing, time periods and exclusions that affect interpretation. A nominal rate divided by twelve and an effective APY conversion are different methods. Likewise, a contribution at the beginning of a month and one at the end do not have identical growth timing.
Examples should be consistent with the implementation they describe. Where practical, simple cases such as a zero-return scenario or a directly checkable budget total help establish the expected arithmetic. A visual chart should represent the model's output rather than add an unsupported impression of certainty or investment performance.
Examples and assumptions
Dollar examples are illustrations, not reports of a real customer's finances or outcomes. Inputs should be labeled so a reader can distinguish an example from a current market rate, product offer or recommendation. Default values should not be treated as promises about the future.
The explanation should show how a changed input can affect a result without implying that a preferred outcome is available merely by choosing a more optimistic assumption. For instance, increasing an assumed return can improve a projection on screen, but it does not guarantee a higher return in an actual account.
Originality, images and assistance tools
FinPico aims to create original wording and useful structure rather than reproduce a competitor's page. Common ideas and mathematical methods can be explained independently, while another publisher's wording, graphics or distinctive material may require permission. Image and asset rights should be considered separately from the surrounding article.
Digital assistance may be used in preparing explanations, layouts, illustrations or code. Such assistance is not a qualification, a factual source or proof of independent professional review. Material still needs to be assessed for accuracy, clarity and consistency. Illustrative or generated people images should not create fictional employees, endorsements or case studies.
Commercial context and reader trust
An educational explanation should not hide a commercial relationship that materially changes how a reader understands a recommendation. If advertising, sponsorship or affiliate arrangements are introduced, relevant disclosures should accurately describe the arrangement and appear where readers need them.
The existence of a website or a future monetization plan is not evidence of a partnership with a named provider. We should not invent product comparisons, awards or audience figures to appear established. Readers should be able to distinguish an explanatory tool, a commercial offer and an external destination before choosing what to do next.
Updates and corrections
A page may need revision when an implementation changes, an explanation is unclear or a factual problem is identified. Material corrections should address the affected content rather than simply change a date. An updated label should reflect meaningful editorial work, not imply that every linked external source was rechecked at that moment.
The Correction Policy explains how to report an issue. Reports should include the page URL, relevant wording or example inputs and the reason the result appears incorrect. A difference caused by assumptions may call for clearer explanation even when the arithmetic itself is consistent with the model.
Limits and feedback
FinPico's editorial approach supports general understanding; it does not replace personal financial, legal or tax advice. No policy can guarantee that all content is error-free or that every possible circumstance has been modeled. Read each calculator's assumptions and the Financial Disclaimer before placing weight on a projection.
Send questions or suggestions to hello@finpico.com. Explain what would make the page more useful, and avoid unnecessary sensitive information. We welcome feedback about confusing terms, inaccessible interactions or missing context. The aim is to improve understanding and make the limits of the information as clear as its practical uses.
